Greece expands employment subsidies for unemployed women

Greece's Minister of Labour and Social Security, Niki Kerameus, has announced an expansion of the employment subsidy program for unemployed women. Due to high demand, the initiative will be bolstered with 5,000 additional full-time positions, bringing the total capacity beyond the original 10,000 full and part-time roles.

The program offers significant financial incentives for businesses to hire unemployed women. Companies can receive subsidies covering up to 70% of wages and social security contributions. For women who are mothers of children up to 15 years old, the subsidy increases to 80% to encourage those who have stayed home for childcare to re-enter the labor market.

The program is scheduled for a duration of 12 months, with the possibility of a three-month extension. Additionally, the Ministry is moving forward with targeted employment programs through DYPA for individuals in remote mountainous and island regions, as well as for citizens over 55 and persons with disabilities.
