Greece explores charter flights from Brazil to boost tourism

Greek Special Advisor to the Prime Minister, Iasonas Pipinis, has discussed potential tourism expansions with the new Brazilian Ambassador to Greece, Laudemar Aguiar. The discussions focused on the possibility of establishing charter flights from Brazil to Greece, specifically targeting destinations like the island of Lesvos.

Greece currently receives approximately 300,000 tourists annually from Latin America, a demographic characterized as luxury travelers due to high spending on accommodation and dining. To further increase these flows, Greece plans to open a Greek National Tourism Organization (EOT) office in Latin America. The initiative aims to leverage the interest in charter routes to bring more high-spending visitors to Aegean islands.
