Greece extends public bus transport tender deadlines

The Greek Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has announced extensions for the submission of binding offers regarding the awarding of public regular road passenger transport services in eight regions. These tenders are central to the process of liberalizing the KTEL bus services, involving the granting of exclusive rights for urban and intercity bus routes.

The affected regions include Central Macedonia, Epirus, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Western Macedonia, the Ionian Islands, Crete, Western Greece, and the Peloponnese. The procurement process is being managed by the Independent Authority for Public Revenue through the Strategic Importance Contracts Unit, in accordance with Regulation (EC) 1370/2007.

New deadlines for the submission of offers are set for September 2026. Specific dates vary by region: Crete's deadline is September 18, while Western Greece and the Peloponnese follow on September 21. Western Macedonia and the Ionian Islands have deadlines on September 22. Eastern Macedonia and Thrace's deadline is September 23, and Central Macedonia and Epirus conclude on September 30.
