Greece faces heat up to 34 °C with local thunderstorms on June 5‑6

The Greek National Meteorological Service forecast clear skies across most of the country on Wednesday, with temperatures reaching 33‑34 °C in eastern mainland areas. Temporary cloud development is expected over mountainous regions, bringing local showers and brief rain, while isolated thunderstorms may occur in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.

A change in conditions is anticipated from Thursday night in western Greece, where rain and thunderstorms are forecast for the northern Ionian Sea and Epirus. Winds will blow from the south at 3‑5 Beaufort, locally up to 6 Beaufort in the Aegean. Temperatures will drop to 26‑28 °C in most regions on Thursday, with highs of 29‑31 °C in eastern central Greece and the eastern Peloponnese.
