Greece faces strong north winds and isolated showers across mainland and islands

A weather outlook for Greece predicts generally clear skies with sunshine over most of the country this weekend, but localised rain showers and brief thunderstorms are expected in mountainous and northern mainland areas. Temperatures will stay near seasonal norms, ranging from the low 20s °C in Athens to the mid‑30s °C in the north and central regions, with slightly cooler conditions on the islands.

The Aegean Sea will experience reinforced northern breezes reaching Beaufort force 4‑6, locally up to 7, while the Ionian will see milder winds of force 2‑4. These strong winds increase the risk of wildfires, especially where high temperatures and dry conditions prevail. Similar conditions are forecast for the coming days, with temperatures climbing further into the upper 30s °C in parts of western mainland Greece and the fire danger remaining elevated.

Residents in the mountainous zones of western‑northwest Thessaly, Epirus, Macedonia and Thrace should expect brief cloud cover and isolated showers during midday and afternoon periods. Overall, the weekend should remain mostly sunny apart from these localized disturbances.
