Greece greenhouse sector sees €477 million in investment applications

The Greek Ministry of Rural Development and Food has reported a surge in investment interest for the greenhouse sector. Under the CAP 2023-2027 Strategic Plan (intervention P3-73-2.9), 944 applications have been submitted, totaling a budget of €477.14 million.

Of the total proposed investment, €267.71 million is requested in public subsidies, while €209.43 million is expected from private participation. The program aims to fund the construction and modernization of greenhouses and accessible plant production shelters.

Regional distribution shows that Crete and Western Greece account for more than half of the total applications. Crete leads the country with 272 applications totaling €112.39 million. While Western Greece follows with 242 applications, Thessaly is noted for having a higher average budget per investment plan despite fewer total applications. Central Macedonia also maintains a strong presence in the sector.
