Greece Health Minister addresses medical fraud and unveils new hospital robotics
Greek Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis has addressed recent controversies regarding medical oversight and announced technological advancements within the National Health System (ESY).
During a parliamentary session, Georgiadis defended the ministry against criticisms regarding the abolition of the Health and Welfare Services Inspection Body. Addressing a specific case involving illegal medical practices, the Minister stated that a fraudster had hidden a device to evade detection, noting that the equipment had not been declared to the National Organization for Medicines or the Athens Medical Association.
In a separate development, Georgiadis inaugurated the renovated orthopedic clinic at G. Gennimatas Hospital. The facility now features the first modern robotic orthopedic surgery system in a Greek public hospital, donated by the company Kalteq. The equipment, valued at over €1,000,000, is intended to provide public sector patients with access to advanced surgical technology comparable to private healthcare options.
