Greece heatwave expected as temperatures rise to 36 °C in parts of mainland

Weather forecasts for early June 2026 show a gradual improvement across Greece, with mostly clear skies and higher sunshine hours. However, the mainland interior is expected to experience a heat wave, with temperatures reaching up to 36 °C in some locations.

Localized showers and occasional thunderstorms are forecast for the northern and western mountainous areas, as well as parts of the North Aegean. Winds will strengthen, reaching Beaufort force 6‑7 in the Aegean and coastal zones. The outlook covers the period from June 5 to June 8, with temperatures generally staying between 29 °C and 34 °C elsewhere.

The hot spell is accompanied by brief periods of instability, especially in the evenings, and a chance of hail in the North Aegean islands.
