Hot temperatures and isolated thunderstorms forecast for Greece and Cyprus on June 8

The national meteorological services of Greece and Cyprus predict a generally clear sky on Monday 8 June 2026, with short‑lived clouds developing in the afternoon. Temperatures will rise sharply, reaching 35‑36 °C in inland Greece and up to 34 °C on the islands, while Cyprus will see highs of 30‑32 °C.

Localised showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected over mountainous areas of mainland Greece, the western highlands and parts of central Cyprus. These storms may bring brief hail and gusty winds of up to 6 bft, with visibility reduced in the north‑west of Greece during early morning and evening. A modest temperature drop is forecast for eastern Greece, where highs will be 30‑31 °C.

The unsettled pattern is likely to persist through Tuesday, with further scattered rain and thunderstorms across the region, before returning to clearer conditions later in the week.
