Greece highlights architectural and natural landmarks
Greece features several notable natural and architectural landmarks, including the Tatarnas Bridge and the Vahlia Kalda forest region.
The Tatarnas Bridge, located on the border of Aetolia-Acarnania and Evrytania, spans the Kremasta artificial lake. Constructed between 1965 and 1970 based on the designs of Aristarchos Economou, the bridge measures 465.4 meters in total length with a maximum span of 196 meters. It replaced an older stone bridge that is now submerged beneath the lake.
In the Pindus Mountains, the Vahlia Kalda area, also known as the ‘Warm Valley’ in the Vlach dialect, offers significant biodiversity within the Northern Pindus National Park. The landscape is characterized by beech and black pine forests, providing habitats for species such as the brown bear and the wolf. The area is a destination for hiking, featuring locations like the Arkoudorema stream and the high-altitude Flegga lakes.
