Greece holds breast cancer awareness campaigns

Breast cancer awareness initiatives were held in several Greek regions as part of October's prevention month.

In Missolonghi, the Municipality of Holy City of Missolonghi organized an information day at the Tricoupis Cultural Center. The event, held in collaboration with the Medical Association of Aetoloacarnania and the ‘Alma Zois’ Women with Breast Cancer Association of Achaia, featured medical experts including a gynecologist, a breast surgeon, a psychologist, and an oncologist. The session focused on the importance of early diagnosis, modern treatment approaches, and psychological support.

In Ptolemaida, the local Health Center, the Local Health Team, and midwifery students from the University of Western Macedonia conducted an outreach campaign near the city's central market. Participants distributed educational materials regarding the necessity of regular breast self-examinations. The campaign also highlighted the ‘Prolevano’ program, which utilizes messaging to encourage preventative screenings for various conditions, including cardiovascular diseases and cervical cancer.
