Greece holds commemorations for National Resistance figures
Various commemorative events were held across Greece to honor figures and fighters of the National Resistance.
In Souli, a ceremony took place at Neraida to honor the fighters of EDES who fell during the Battle of Menina against German occupation forces on August 17-18, 1944. The event included religious services, the laying of wreaths, and presentations by historians regarding the strategic importance of the battle and the role of EDES in Thesprotia.
In Agios Nikolaos, Crete, a ceremony marked the 82nd anniversary of the death of Rousso Koundouros, a prominent leader of the National Resistance. The commemoration included a memorial service at his monument, the laying of flowers by family members and officials, and a tribute at his family's historic building. Speakers highlighted his role as an emblematic figure of the struggle for freedom and democracy.
