Vasileios Pateras honored with honorary Commodore rank
Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias presided over a ceremony to honor shipowner Vasileios Pateras with the honorary rank of Plarches (Commodore) and the status of Reserve Officer. The ceremony, held at the ‘Themistoklis’ Hall of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, recognized Pateras’s long-standing contributions to the Hellenic Armed Forces.
Dendias highlighted that Pateras’s donations support military training, daily operations, and the overall effectiveness of personnel. The Minister noted that total donations to the Ministry have exceeded 116 million euros since 2023, with expectations to surpass 120 million euros by the end of the current year. He emphasized that such contributions represent a “conscious stance of responsibility toward the Fatherland” and encouraged other wealthy citizens to follow this example to support the nation's security and sovereignty.
