Greece hospitality sector sees new investments and stable occupancy

Greece's hospitality sector is seeing both significant infrastructure investment and stable performance metrics. New hotel developments have been approved for several regions, including Crete and Corfu. In Crete, specifically in the Lasithi and Chania regions, projects include two new developments by Macrame By Voulisma in Istros, a building permit revision for Phaea A.E. in Plaka Elounda, and the conversion of an existing unit into a four-star hotel in Chania. Additionally, the Ikos Odisia five-star resort in Corfu has received an update to its building permit.

Regarding market performance, data from the Institute of Tourism Research and Forecasting indicates that hotel occupancy in Greece reached an average of 86.2% in August 2026, nearly identical to the 86.3% recorded in August 2025. While median prices for double rooms remained stable at €150, there were shifts in pricing by category. Five-star hotels saw a decrease in average double room prices to €341 from €360 the previous year, whereas year-round hotels saw an increase in prices to €123 from €112.
