Greece hosts educational summer schools and unveils Pontian Genocide monument

In Patras, the Arsakeio Lyceum organized its 11th Summer Schools program in collaboration with the University of Patras. The event, held on October 7, 2026, involved 140 students and aimed to connect secondary education with university-level research. The program allows students to explore various scientific fields through experiential learning to assist in their future academic and professional orientation.

In Ptolemaida, a monument dedicated to the Pontian Greek Genocide was unveiled on October 11, 2026. Created by artist Theodoros Zyrpiadis, the bronze sculpture depicts a mother in traditional Pontian attire holding a child, symbolizing the journey of refugees. The project was a collaborative effort between the Ptolemaida Pontian Association and the Municipality of Eordaia, intended to honor the memory of the victims and establish a park dedicated to Pontian Hellenism.
