Greece hosts EuroBirdwatch 2026 events in Lesvos and Soufli

Greece is participating in the EuroBirdwatch 2026 event with various activities organized by the Natural Environment and Climate Change Organization (OFYPEKA) and local authorities.

In Lesvos, a birdwatching excursion will take place at the Kalloni Marsh on Sunday, October 4. The event, open to the public for adults and children over 10, aims to observe waterfowl and passerine species. Participants will use binoculars and telescopes under the guidance of management staff and volunteers from the Greek Ornithological Society and the Hellenic Bird Ringing Center. Data collected will be submitted to the official Rapid Information Actions (R.I.A.) database.

In Soufli, events are scheduled for Saturday, October 3, at the Dadia Information Center. The program includes educational activities for families focused on migratory birds and their journeys. The celebrations will conclude with a classical music concert at the Municipal Theater of Soufli, featuring the ‘Strings in Motion’ ensemble from the Mozarteum University Salzburg, held in collaboration with the Austrian Embassy in Athens.
