Greece hosts upcoming open water swimming and swimrun events

Greece is hosting two significant open water sporting events. The Frogman King swimrun competition returns to Corinthia for its third consecutive year on November 29. Organized by Athlos Sports & Events, the event features two distances: a 22 km King Distance involving 18.3 km of running and 3.7 km of swimming, and a 9 km Sprint Distance. The races take place along the Saronic Gulf coastline.

Additionally, the Piraeus Open Water 1896 – Swim the History event is scheduled for October 18, 2026, under the auspices of the Hellenic Swimming Federation and the Ministry of Sports. This event connects modern swimming with the history of the 1896 Olympic Games. Participants can choose from several distances, including a symbolic 1,200-meter route, 3,000-meter and 1,500-meter challenges, and a 500-meter course for children. The event will be broadcast live on ERT2 and the Hellenic Swimming Federation's YouTube channel.
