Greece implements MIDA property ownership and management registry
The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) is implementing the Property Ownership and Management Registry (MIDA). The process is set to begin with agricultural properties before expanding to residential homes, vacation properties, and plots. The goal of MIDA is to collect detailed information regarding property descriptions, encumbrances, actual usage, and management.
Critics and citizens have raised concerns regarding the necessity of this new registry, questioning why data already provided through annual E9 tax declarations, the Hellenic Cadastre, and electronic building identities must be submitted again. The process requires property owners to compile extensive documentation, including contracts, topographic maps, building permits, and certificates of registration. There are also concerns regarding the costs associated with obtaining necessary documentation, such as topographic maps, and the administrative burden placed on citizens to verify property surfaces and rights.
