Greece implements salary increases for uniformed and civil servants

Greece is implementing significant salary adjustments for both uniformed personnel and civil servants. Approximately 150,000 uniformed members, including police, firefighters, and coast guards, will see changes to their basic pay, salary scales, and special allowances. These adjustments include retroactive payments ranging from 960 to 6,000 euros depending on rank. For those in leadership positions, retroactive calculations are expected to begin from October 1, 2025. Specific monthly allowances for commanders are set at 500 euros, with lieutenant generals receiving 450 euros.

Additionally, around 450,000 civil servants are slated for a gross monthly increase of 40 euros starting April 1, 2027. Due to social security contributions and income tax, the actual net monthly increase for these employees is projected to fall between 22 and 31 euros. This civil service increase excludes members of the armed forces, security forces, and the judiciary.
