Greece imposes fines for illegal parking signage

In Greece, the unauthorized placement of 'No parking' signs or objects to reserve parking spaces is illegal and subject to significant penalties. Individuals placing such signs may face a fine of up to 350 euros.

Under Article 14 of the Highway Code, penalties become more severe if the action involves the unauthorized placement, destruction, alteration, or relocation of existing traffic signage, or the placement of misleading signs that cause driver confusion. Such violations can result in an administrative fine of 1,500 euros and criminal liability, including potential imprisonment for up to 12 months. Legally, any parking signage must be authorized by the relevant Municipality or competent services.
