Greece imposes fines up to 2,000 euros for illegal parking in disabled spaces

Illegal parking in spaces reserved for persons with disabilities (PWD) is on the rise in Greece, despite increased inspections by traffic authorities. Under the Greek Highway Code, violators face fines of up to 2,000 euros.

Repeat offenders may also face the suspension of their driver's licenses for up to one year. The increase in these violations is attributed to high pressure on urban roads and limited available parking, leading some drivers to bypass legislation to save time. Other common violations noted include sidewalk obstructions, double parking, and parking on corners that impede traffic flow.
