Greece inaugurates new police and border security facilities in Didymoteicho

New police and border security facilities were inaugurated in Didymoteicho, Evros, on Friday, September 4, 2026. The new infrastructure includes the Didymoteicho Police Station, the Criminal Investigation and Prosecution Department, and the Border Guard Department.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis, and the Regional Police Director of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Brigadier Lampros Tsiaras. During his speech, Minister Chrysochoidis emphasized the government's commitment to national security and the protection of Greek borders. He noted that the new buildings serve as vital infrastructure for border security and highlighted the ongoing construction of the Evros border fence, stating that current migration flows are nearly zero.
