Greece increases childcare voucher values and income thresholds

The Greek Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family has announced significant changes to the childcare voucher program for the 2026–2027 period. According to a new Joint Ministerial Decision, the value of both full and reduced-value vouchers for nursery, preschool, and kindergarten facilities will increase by 10%.

Income thresholds for receiving full-value vouchers will rise by 2,000 euros. For example, the limit for families with up to two children is now set at 29,000 euros, while families with three children have a threshold of 32,000 euros. Additionally, the income restriction for reduced-value vouchers has been abolished for families with three children, aligning them with the rules for large families.

Minister Domna Michailidou stated that these measures aim to improve access to preschool care and support working parents. The adjustments will be applied automatically to vouchers already issued, and a second call for interest will be released by EETAΑ to allow more families to join the program under the new criteria.
