Greece industrial import prices rise 10% in July

Industrial import prices in Greece rose by 10% in July on an annual basis, according to data from ELSTAT. This marks a significant shift from July 2025, which saw a 2.1% annual decrease.

On a monthly basis, the General Import Price Index for industry increased by 4.4% compared to June. This growth was driven largely by imports from non-Eurozone countries, which saw a 16.5% annual increase, whereas imports from Eurozone countries rose by only 1.5%.

The energy sector was the primary driver of these rising costs, with energy import prices surging by 30.5% annually. Specific high-growth areas included anthracite and petroleum refining products, which rose by 45%, and crude oil and natural gas extraction, which increased by 27%. Other notable increases were seen in basic metals (15.9%) and electricity, natural gas, and air conditioning (11.9%).

In contrast, prices for durable consumer goods fell by 1.2%, and non-durable consumer goods decreased by 0.8%. Intermediate goods also saw a 5.8% increase, while capital goods rose by 0.5%.
