Greece introduces first public sector digital avatar ‘Evgenia’
The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (IAPR) has introduced ‘Evgenia’, the first digital avatar for the Greek public sector. Designed based on a real person, the avatar uses natural language to provide information and answer citizen inquiries.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the IAPR booth at the Thessaloniki International Fair, where he interacted with the digital avatar. The initiative represents a step toward utilizing advanced artificial intelligence to serve as a digital partner for citizens.
The IAPR’s digital strategy focuses on several key areas: replacing legacy information systems with cloud infrastructure, integrating AI for predictive analysis and anomaly detection in compliance with the AI Act and GDPR, enhancing cybersecurity, and conducting targeted tax audits through data analysis. IAPR Governor Giorgos Pitsilis stated that the organization is investing systematically in data and digital infrastructure to ensure safer and more efficient operations.
