Greece implements new regulations for outdoor market sellers
Greece has introduced new regulations for outdoor markets through Ministerial Decision 66390, published in the Government Gazette. The decision aims to clarify the operating framework for producers and professional sellers and improve consumer information.
Producers may now request to add or change the products listed on their licenses under specific conditions: at least two years must have passed since the license was granted, and at least one year must have passed since the last similar request. They must also provide production evidence, such as declarations to the Hellenic Agricultural Organization (OSEDE), and update their tax records with the appropriate activity code.
The regulation also mandates new signage requirements for market stalls. Producers must display a permanent sign, at least 1 meter by 0.40 meters, clearly stating ‘PRODUCER’ along with their full name, license number, registration number in the Integrated Information System ‘Open Market’ (OPSAA), and the regional unit of their agricultural holding. Professional sellers face similar obligations, requiring a sign stating ‘PROFESSIONAL’ with their name, license number, and OPSAA registration.
