Greece introduces new solar energy rules for apartment buildings

A new ministerial decision from the Greek Ministry of Environment and Energy has established clearer regulations for collective self-consumption within apartment buildings and organized housing complexes. This framework aims to transition solar energy production from individual households to a building-wide or group-based model.

Under the new rules, two or more consumers within the same building can participate in a shared production station. Participants can mutually agree on how the generated energy is distributed, and the scheme can include the consumption of common areas. Notably, participating residents are not required to use the same electricity supplier. The regulation also covers virtual synchronized offsetting, allowing for more flexible energy sharing based on pre-agreed percentages related to investment or specific needs.
