Greece introduces wage‑recording system to close gender pay gap

From November, Greek employers must implement a structured wage‑recording mechanism that logs each employee’s position, gender, contract type, hours, base salary, bonuses, overtime and other compensation. The data are processed by an algorithm that automatically calculates the gender pay gap for both basic wages and additional benefits, enabling rapid corrective action where unjustified disparities are found.

The Ministry of Labour, together with the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family and the Center for Equality Issues, has launched a free online tool called Fair Pay (https://fairpay.isotita.gr) to help firms create the required wage structures and assess pay equality. The system supports the new Law 5316/2026 on equal pay for work of equal value, obliging employers to disclose salary ranges in job advertisements and to avoid gender‑biased hiring questions.
