Greece issues high fire risk alert for June 18, 2026
The Greek Civil Protection Authority released a fire‑risk prediction map for Thursday, 18 June 2026, indicating a high fire‑danger level (category 3) across Eastern Attica and several islands including Euboea, Mytilene, Chios, Psara, Samos, Ikaria, Karpathos, Kasos, Heraklion and Lassi. The map is part of the daily forecasting system used throughout the anti‑fire season to protect lives, property and the natural environment.
Authorities imposed a prohibition on any open fire activities in forests, agricultural and shrubland areas, parks and protected zones, as stipulated by national fire‑prevention regulations. Citizens are urged to follow self‑protection measures and avoid actions that could trigger wildfires.
