Greece issues Red Code alert amid widespread wildfire risk
Greece is facing a severe wildfire threat, with the General Secretariat for Civil Protection issuing a Red Code mobilization for multiple regions. On September 8, 2026, a very high fire risk (category 4) was predicted for Attica, Crete, the Aegean, Central Greece, and the Peloponnese.
