Greece: KKE opposes renewable energy projects in Boeotia and Kozani
The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) has issued a formal inquiry to the Ministers of Environment and Energy and National Economy and Finance, calling for a halt to renewable energy projects in specific regions. The party opposes plans to install wind turbines in the protected Bourinos mountain area of Kozani and Grevena, as well as photovoltaic plants in Galatini and energy storage stations in the Boeotia municipality.
The party highlights that over 30,000 stremmata of forest and grazing land in the Galatini community are being allocated to corporate groups for large-scale solar parks. Furthermore, concerns have been raised regarding the safety of lithium battery storage units, citing potential risks of toxic leaks and the difficulty of managing fires in such facilities near residential areas.
