The Independent Labour Inspection Authority in Greece has announced a zero-tolerance policy regarding all forms of violence and harassment in the workplace. Shifting focus from reactive complaint management to proactive prevention, the Authority is implementing a comprehensive action plan for 2025. This strategy includes enhancing the tools available to inspectors, providing advisory support, and conducting educational initiatives for employers and employees.

Statistical data from 2025 reveals a 43% increase in reported incidents, totaling 455 labor dispute requests. Notably, 79% of these cases involve psychological or verbal violence, and 73% occur within vertical hierarchical relationships. There has also been a recorded increase in complaints involving women, who now account for 38% of reported cases.

To combat these trends, the Authority has issued preventive guidance to approximately 2,000 small and medium-sized enterprises, particularly in the tourism, retail, and hospitality sectors. The goal is to foster a culture of safety, respect, and dignity across the Greek labor market.
