Greece launches digital property registry for 7 million owners

The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) will activate the Property Ownership and Management Registry (MIDΑ) in June, creating a single digital record for each real‑estate asset in Greece. The system will cover roughly 7 million property owners and link tax data with the National Cadastre.

Owners must log into the platform with their Taxisnet credentials, verify existing details and declare the actual use of each property – primary residence, secondary home, rental, vacant or free‑of‑charge use. MIDΑ will automatically cross‑check filings against cadastral records and, from 1 October 2026, match declared rental income with bank‑recorded rent payments, enabling the tax authority to spot undeclared rentals and other discrepancies.

The rollout is expected to curb tax evasion from property income, streamline social‑housing benefit checks, and simplify tax filings by pre‑populating property‑related fields. It also introduces new scrutiny of vacant buildings, large‑consumption properties and lease‑financed assets.
