Greece launches pilot of MIDA property registry ahead of new fines

The Greek Tax Authority (AADE) is conducting a pilot rollout of the new Property Ownership and Management Registry (MIDA) before the system’s full activation and the imposition of related administrative fines. MIDA will consolidate data currently scattered across the E9 database, the Cadastre, rental registers and other public sources into a single digital file for each property.

A transitional period has been approved to give owners and tenants time to verify and correct their records. Owners and tenants will be required to report details such as property address, area, co‑ownership percentages, usage, rentals and even utility connections. Late updates will attract a €500 penalty, inaccurate statements linked to subsidies can be fined up to €1,000, and other errors carry a €100 fine. Once fully operational, automated cross‑checks will identify mismatches in area, usage, ownership shares and rental income, potentially leading to adjustments in ENFIA assessments and municipal fees. The rollout was delayed from an initial end‑March target due to technical integration challenges between E9 and the Cadastre.
