Greece launches public review process for new school textbooks

The Greek Ministry of Education has launched a digital platform to allow teachers, parents, scientific associations, and citizens to review and provide feedback on new textbooks for primary, middle, and first-year high school students. The initiative aims to identify errors, improve phrasing, and update content to ensure the materials meet modern educational needs before their mass distribution.

The new textbooks are part of a transition to a multiple-textbook model and are scheduled for printed distribution in September 2027. Currently, the selection process is nearly complete, with 98.13% finished in primary education and 100% in secondary education.

The cost for printing 22.5 million copies is estimated at €14.1 million, representing a 15% increase compared to the previous year's budget. This additional €2 million has already been approved by the Ministry of Finance.
