Greece livestock prices: Dairy trends and rising feed costs
Livestock producer prices in Greece are showing mixed trends. While cow milk prices remain relatively stable, the cost of animal feed is rising sharply. Conventional cow milk is priced at 58.2 cents per kilo, with organic milk at 62.0 cents per kilo. This remains significantly higher than prices in other European nations, such as Italy (46.2 cents), France (43.38 cents), and Germany (40.14 cents).
In the sheep and goat milk sector, prices are on an upward trajectory due to decreased production and steady demand. Sheep milk prices currently range between 1.70 and 1.90 euros per kilo, with the potential to exceed the 2.00 euro threshold. Goat milk prices have risen to between 1.10 and 1.15 euros per kilo.
Despite these price increases, livestock farmers face pressure from high production costs, financial obligations, and delayed payments, which continue to limit overall profitability.
