Greek government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis has announced that the upcoming measures to be unveiled by the Prime Minister at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) will be permanent and horizontal. These measures are intended to impact a broad range of citizens, including public employees, retirees, and private sector workers, with a specific focus on the middle class and businesses.

Addressing fiscal constraints, Marinakis noted that while the government does not oppose increasing worker income, certain proposals are financially unfeasible. He cited the estimated 1.5 billion euro cost of reintroducing a 13th month salary for public employees as a primary example of a measure the state cannot currently afford.

Marinakis also criticized opposition leader Alexis Tsipras, characterizing his economic proposals as “unfunded promises.” He estimated the cost of Tsipras's pledges at 13.5 billion euros and specifically noted that the EL.A.S. housing program for 50,000 new homes carries an estimated cost of 8 billion euros. The government maintains that its own economic policy is rooted in growth, job creation, and combating tax evasion.
