Greece men's handball team wins historic silver at Mediterranean Games

The Greece men's national handball team secured a historic silver medal at the 20th Mediterranean Games. This marks the first time the Greek handball team has reached the podium in the history of the competition.

In a closely contested final against Egypt, Greece narrowly lost with a score of 31-29. The match remained competitive until the final seconds; after trailing 29-27, Greece managed to close the gap to 30-29 via a goal by Batis. Despite a two-minute suspension for Stathis in the closing moments, Greece had a final opportunity to force overtime following an Egyptian turnover, but they were unable to capitalize.

Stathis was the top scorer for Greece with eight goals, while Jimpoulos contributed six. The Greek team's path to the final included victories over Cyprus and Portugal.
