Greece Ministry of Education announces appointment of 4,789 teachers

The Greek Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports has announced the appointment and swearing-in process for 4,789 newly appointed teachers. The process is scheduled to take place from Monday, August 24, to Friday, August 28, 2026.

Three official decisions are expected to be published in the Government Gazette on August 24, 2026. These decisions cover the permanent appointment of teachers in several sectors: 3,293 general education teachers, 75 music science and music teachers for music schools, and 1,421 teachers in special education and training, including positions in KEDASY.

Newly appointed staff are required to appear in person at their respective local Directorate of Education or Music School for their swearing-in. Exceptions are permitted for those unable to travel due to serious health reasons or pregnancy/postpartum recovery, provided they present valid documentation to a nearby Directorate of Education.
