Greece Ministry of Education opens teacher secondment applications

The Greek Ministry of Education has issued a call for newly appointed primary and secondary school teachers, as well as their spouses or cohabitants, to submit secondment applications for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Applications must be submitted electronically through the Integrated Personnel Management Information System (OPSYD) between Wednesday, August 26, 2026, and Tuesday, September 1, 2026. The secondments apply to transfers between regional service councils (PYSPE/PYSD) and special education structures.

Newly appointed teachers are initially placed in vacant positions within their appointment area. While permanent placement occurs through the standard transfer process, most new appointees are required to remain in their appointment area for at least two school years. Those appointed to Special Education (EAE) face a mandatory service period of at least five years.
