Greece Ministry of Education revokes teacher's appointment over forged certificate

The Greek Ministry of Education has revoked the appointment of a substitute teacher after discovering she used a forged German language certificate to gain extra points during the recruitment process.

The educator had submitted a "GOETHE-ZERTIFIKAT C2: Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom" to claim seven additional points in the ASEP evaluation rankings for Special Education positions for the 2025-2026 school year. Following an inquiry, the Goethe-Institut officially confirmed that the document was not issued by the organization and did not correspond to any examination process.

As a result, ASEP removed the individual from the evaluation rankings and placed her on the rejected list, while the Ministry of Education cancelled her hiring decision. This case highlights that the verification of credentials, including language certifications, can occur at any stage of the administrative process, even after recruitment has been finalized.
