Greece Ministry of Health to inventory 4,000+ properties

The Greek Ministry of Health has launched a major initiative to identify, record, and manage its vast real estate holdings. The project aims to create a comprehensive digital inventory of properties belonging to the Ministry and its supervised bodies, many of which have been accumulated over decades through legacies and various insurance organizations.

Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis estimated that the Ministry holds between 4,000 and 5,000 properties, with a total value potentially reaching several hundred million euros. The Minister emphasized that the objective is not to sell these assets, but to optimize their use through methods such as long-term leases to generate new resources for the National Health System (ESY).

Following an international tender, a consortium led by Qualco Real Estate and Qualco S.A. (holding over 90% interest) was awarded the contract. The project has an initial budget of approximately 10 million euros and a 24-month duration, with an option for a 12-month extension. The scope includes technical and legal audits, document collection, and the creation of digital files for each property to ensure better management and transparency.
