Greece Mobile Health Units reach 70,000 visits
Greece's Mobile Health Units (KOMY), operated by the National Public Health Organization (EODY), have surpassed 70,000 visits nationwide, providing free preventive screenings and primary care services to bring healthcare closer to citizens.
In the Municipality of Messinia, these units will continue their outreach throughout October, scheduled to visit the communities of Hatzi, Kokkinou, Mathia, Petritsi, and Pelekanada. The program offers various tests, including blood pressure, oxygen saturation, BMI, cholesterol, triglycerides, blood glucose, hemoglobin, and glycated hemoglobin. Additionally, the units provide information on adult vaccinations and health counseling. For citizens with severe mobility issues, home visits can be arranged via a dedicated telephone line.
During a recent visit to the 1st KAPHI of Ilio, Deputy Health Minister Eirini Agapidakis highlighted the program's capabilities, which include telemedicine connections to health centers. The mobile units are equipped to perform electrocardiograms, otoscopy, dermatoscopy, spirometry, and ultrasounds for the thyroid, heart, and abdomen.
