Greece national football team rises in FIFA rankings

The Greece national football team has seen significant progress in the FIFA rankings, rising five positions to 41st following strong performances in the UEFA Nations League. Under coach Ivan Jovanović, the team remains undefeated in their group, currently tied with the Netherlands at 8 points after four matches. Their campaign includes notable results such as a victory against Germany and a draw against the Netherlands.

With two matches remaining in the Nations League, Greece is positioned to potentially secure a spot in the quarter-finals. If they finish second in their group, they may face top-seeded teams like France, Spain, or Portugal in the knockout stage. Additionally, Greece has secured a place in Pot 1 for the Euro 2028 qualifying draw, ensuring they will avoid other top-seeded nations such as England, Germany, or Italy during the group stage.

Statistically, the team has demonstrated high efficiency, scoring five goals from 34 shots within the penalty area despite maintaining lower possession percentages against major opponents. The current momentum marks the highest point for the team under the current technical leadership.
