Greece NGO fraud investigation reveals lack of transparency in donations

New testimonies have emerged regarding an alleged fraud case involving a non-governmental organization (NGO) in Greece. The case centers on fundraising efforts for 9-year-old Georgia, a child suffering from cerebral palsy who required medical surgery.

In 2024, the child's parents sought assistance from the NGO to fund travel to the United States for surgery. Due to delays in opening a dedicated bank account for the child, the NGO suggested that donations be deposited into the organization's own account. While the parents received periodic bank updates showing deposits, they stated they were never informed of the total amount collected in their daughter's name or if any surplus remained.

The parents noted that while they received the specific funds requested for the child's needs, the lack of transparency regarding the full scale of donations is deeply concerning. The fundraising campaign had gained significant traction on social media, involving numerous high-profile individuals.
