Greece provides €565 monthly aid for former self‑employed, up to nine months

The Greek Manpower Employment Organization (ΔΥΠΑ) announced a special unemployment benefit of €565 per month for former self‑employed workers. The aid can be paid for up to nine months, depending on the length of the beneficiary’s prior insurance coverage.

Eligibility requires that applicants were insured under the former OAEE or ETAP‑MME schemes, have permanently stopped their professional activity after 1 January 2012, and have paid the legally mandated special contribution to the Special Unemployment Account. Applicants must have at least three years of insurance (continuous or intermittent) and must not be receiving a pension or have applied for retirement. Income limits are €30,000 for individual taxable income over the two previous tax years and €40,000 for family income.

The duration of payments scales with the total years of insurance, ranging from three months for three‑four years of coverage to nine months for fifteen years or more. The program is financed through the Special Unemployment Account, overseen by ΔΥΠΑ, and aims to support thousands of former freelancers and small‑business owners who have lost their livelihoods.
