Greece offers ferry discounts for substitute teachers

Substitute teachers in primary and secondary education in Greece can access up to 50% discounts on ferry tickets for the 2026–2027 school year. This initiative, led by the Ministries of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, covers both individual tickets and the transport of private vehicles and bicycles.

Three specific discount periods have been identified: • Christmas: December 23, 2026, to January 7, 2027 • Easter: April 23 to May 9, 2027 • End of school year: June 19 to July 3, 2027

Specific companies such as SEAJETS and Levante Ferries Group are participating in the program. SEAJETS offers the 50% discount on all its vessels, though tickets must be purchased through partner agencies rather than online. Levante Ferries Group also provides the discount for the specified periods, noting that tickets cannot be converted to open dates. To utilize these discounts, teachers must present their police ID and official employment or placement documentation.
