Greece Opens Applications for Kalamata Apprenticeship School as Private University Program Approvals Loom

The Public Service Employment Agency (Δ. ΥΠ. Α.) announced that applications are open for the Kalamata Apprenticeship School (ΕΠΑ. Σ. Μαθητείας Καλαμάτας) for the 2026‑2027 academic year. The free two‑year program targets 15‑ to 29‑year‑olds with a secondary school diploma, offering paid apprenticeships (about €32.60 per day) and full insurance. Fields of study include Electrical and Elevator Works, Automotive Mechanical and Electrical Systems, Thermal and Hydraulic Installations, and Hotel Management. Applications must be submitted electronically via the gov.gr portal by 10 September 2026.

Separately, the Ministry of Education expects the National Authority for Higher Education (ΕΘΑΑΕ) to approve study programmes of non‑state universities between September and October 2026. Committees for evaluation have not yet been formed. The approval process follows a five‑stage procedure involving external expert panels, student representatives, and relevant professional bodies, with stricter criteria introduced for medical schools.
