e-EFKA to review 35,000 pensions for potential increases

The Greek Unified Social Security Fund (e-EFKA) is conducting a large-scale review of approximately 35,000 pensions. This audit targets cases where recalculations were not completed or were stalled due to incomplete insurance data, particularly affecting retirees with more than 30 years of insurance history.

The review is driven by changes to replacement rates introduced by Law 4670/2020, which established more favorable calculation methods for those with long insurance periods. Because many older files contained discrepancies or required cross-referencing with data from former funds, the process could not be fully automated.

Pending cases are distributed across several former funds: approximately 12,000 from OAEE-TEVE, over 11,000 from IKA, roughly 9,000 from the Public Sector, 1,500 from ETAA-TSAV, and 700 from TAPOTE. If the audit reveals a positive difference, retirees may receive both a permanent increase in their monthly pension and retroactive payments for the period they were paid a lower amount.
