Greece plans Market Pass 2026 payments before Christmas

The Greek government is planning the rollout of the Market Pass 2026, aiming to issue the first payments to vulnerable households before Christmas. According to Minister of Social Cohesion and Family Domna Michailidou, the initial disbursement may be significantly higher for some recipients due to retroactive payments, with amounts potentially reaching up to 1,000 euros.

The program is designed to provide financial support for food and basic necessities, with an estimated average monthly voucher value of 60 euros. The initiative aims to support citizens in need while simultaneously boosting the local market during the holiday season.

Final details, including specific eligibility criteria and exact payment dates, are expected to be clarified in a Joint Ministerial Decision scheduled for release in November. For those already included in the Minimum Guaranteed Income program, a separate application is not expected to be required, as the process aims to minimize bureaucracy by linking to existing systems.
